All of the wines from Emandare are 100% estate grown and dry farmed organically on our 8.5-acre North Cowichan vineyard. We are not certified organic but choose to farm this way because working along side nature is at the core of our wine growing philosophy. The vineyard is full of life and our goal is to capture a glimpse of this place in every bottle through old world, low intervention, natural wine making methods.
The 2016 Siegerrebe Gewurztraminer Is hand harvested and a field blend of 63% Siegerrebe and 37% Gewurztraminer grapes. Timing of harvest on this wine is crucial to capture a true expression of our terroir by retaining the acidity that nature is so generous with on Vancouver Island. The grapes were gently crushed and de-stemmed as soon as they hit the crush pad and were allowed to soak on the skins overnight before pressing. This wine was fermented in stainless steel using wild yeast and left on the lees for 5 months to create a fresh, clean and lively expression of Emandare’s nature.
This dry wine is delicate, fresh and clean. What really stands out is it’s length on the finish and it’s refreshing mouth-watering texture. We have yet to find a food that this wine doesn’t pair with because of the pleasure that your mouth experiences as it cleanses your palate with every sip. Enjoy bursting aromas of fresh wild flowers, with clean citrus flavours of lemon, lime, grapefruit and green apple.
